In this episode of the Under Pressure Divecast I’m going to talk a little about traveling and SCUBA diving. What do you take? What are some of the considerations we have as traveling divers?

Note: Yes… it appears that I’m not as focused as I should be here. Ooops!

SCUBA Diving with the Shine From Misfit Wearables – Update

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Possibly Narced

In Episode 001 of the Under Pressure Divecast I introduced the Shine fitness monitor from Misfit Wearables. At that time I hadn’t yet been able to dive with it and today I’m happy to report that after three dive locations the verdict is in and the Shine… well… it shines!

My dives with the Shine:

  • The Homestead Crater, Midway, UT
  • The Blue Hole, Santa Rosa, NM
  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

The video above was shot in the Blue Hole, NM.

The facts – the Shine has been down to over 100 feet and… it just works!

If you need a fitness partner on your next dive take a look at the Shine.

Destinations of Opportunity

There you are… you’re traveling for business or visiting your relatives; walking down a boardwalk… and then it hits you… ‘I could be diving!’

How often do you take the opportunity to go SCUBA diving when you are traveling for other reasons? Do you avoid packing your gear if you’re not going on a ‘dive trip’ simply because you’d only get one or two dives in anyway?

I know I have. I’ve been to California and the northeast plenty of times to get some dives in but left my gear at home. Why?

Here are 5 reasons divers lose dive opportunities!

  • It’s too much to carry.
  • That’s not the point of this trip.
  • The airlines charge too much for checked bags.
  • What if I carry it all on my trip and can’t dive?
  • I would only get a dive or two in anyway.

Now, let’s talk about strategies overcome these excuses and make every trip a ‘dive trip’!

Help me spread the word about SCUBA diving!

I’m recording on Thursday (as well as wrapping up the next full blog post) so stay tuned.

I’ll be traveling for the 2nd half of the month so maybe we’ll get some ‘on location’ divecasts!
