How do you get your SCUBA on between dive trips? Since many divers look forward to diving on specific dive vacations or the occasional weekend, staying in touch with the sport during our ‘dry spells’ can help us stay current as well as sate our hunger for diving between trips.

SCUBA divers know how exciting it is to discover new and exciting creatures on the reef. What’s even better is when a buddy that’s new to diving finds something fun and has the opportunity to share that with you! What’s even better than that is when your wife gets the chance to make that discovery on a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta where we dove near Mariettas Island! I’ve included video of both dive days below as well as some thoughts about my experience shooting underwater with the GoPro.

Snorkel Pros, Cons and Solutions

Why do divers carry a snorkel? Don’t they have air already?!

If you’re not a SCUBA diver this is an understandable question. Why would we have a snorkel if we’re already carrying air in a cylinder on our backs?

And, if you are a diver do you ever ask yourself this question or have you ever left your snorkel in your dive bag (you don’t have to admit it out loud… just let the voice in your head do the talking).

The answer to the first question is, of course, we do have air but there are some good reasons for carrying a snorkel as a SCUBA diver and some problems as well.
